I can't believe that I chose an industry where giving a shit about what I do and the codebases I work on is regarded as a negative thing and the only metric that matters is how fast you can shit out support for something and not like, idk, any of the other code writing things we have to do
Like in any other industry doing something well and correct is kind of rewarded whereas in tech you are just repeatedly shat on,
It doesn't help that that it compounds when you have coworkers that shit out absolutely terrible code at a high rate are then not only rewarded, but making the subsequent systems harder and worse to work through
and then when you have to take pull requests from them and they tell you to do something in a completely fucked up way, and not only does your manager not care but holds them with high esteem. So you lose points with your manager and the rest of the staff by going "eh? thats fucked up", everyone acts like you're weird for giving a shit about it, and when you ask a forum of your peers who are in more senior positions, they all agree that the suggested alterations are fucked up and wrong
