USpol, DHS

Supreme Court said this morning that if you live in the red area, DHS can enter your home without a warrant. If you live in the red area, you're legally under martial law.

USpol, DHS

@awmwrites image caption: 100 mile radius "border zone" from US internal border, including from any coastline or land border.

It also starts at the sea, because you never know when aquaman might try to enter without the right immigration paperwork

USpol, DHS

@awmwrites Could I have some more information on this please? The case number or something please?

USpol, DHS

@awmwrites @ozoned now you have a reason to buy an AR-15 at Walmart.

USpol, DHS

@ozoned whether you like it or not, you may find it necessary.

USpol, DHS

@awmwrites Interestingly Donald Trump lives in this area too. Who needs search warrants when you can have the DHS just pick up the evidence without notice?

USpol, DHS

@awmwrites

hello, what is the idea behind this possibility ?

USpol, DHS

@Shinra Do you mean the logic of the court? The court has said that 100 miles from the US border is a constitutionally compromised area going back to the Bush era (ACLU went to court over free speech zones a bunch in the early 2000s). Egbert v Boule grants blanket amnesty to DHS agents assuming that anything they do in violation of the constitution is justified. That means within the red zone, DHS has legal basis to do most anything they want, Bill of Rights be damned.

USpol, DHS

@awmwrites ok, thks for the information

USpol, DHS

@awmwrites @erosdiscordia wow鈥 how much more transparent can they be about their political agenda 馃う馃徎鈥嶁檧锔

USpol, DHS

@awmwrites you know, when they complain about coastal elites, I guess it's on me for not considering the entire state of Michigan as part of that category

USpol, DHS

@vultureculture @awmwrites it's a desperation move to finally nab Florida Man once and for all

USpol, DHS

@awmwrites as if I wanted another reason to leave this fucking country 馃檭

USpol, DHS

@awmwrites glad I got out when I did, I just hope I can secure a way to extend that chance to others

USpol, DHS

@awmwrites US turning into fascist dictatorship confirmed

re: USpol, DHS

@awmwrites It's weird that the borders extend from the sea as well as the land. Was that specified in the ruling?

re: USpol, DHS

@IceWolf I believe that the borders were set by the previous Bivens ruling and ACLU just carried them forward, but I could be mistaken

USpol, DHS

@awmwrites Can you link to a source so we can find out more?

USpol, DHS

@awmwrites

It's not just limited to the border either. "[Customs and Border Patrol] claims the authority to conduct suspicionless searches of travelers' electronic devices鈥攕uch as laptops and cell phones鈥攁t ports of entry, including international arrivals at airports."

Source: aclu.org/other/constitution-10

So there is no redress for violations of fourth amendment rights there either. I am glad I don't live within 100 miles of an international border.

re: USpol, DHS

@awmwrites They are some kind of police, right ?

re: USpol, DHS

@eragon Correct, specifically border patrol and trafficking police.

re: USpol, DHS

@awmwrites is this like a cool scifi thing?

USpol, DHS

@awmwrites Disgusting that the party of strict Constitutionalism is actively overthrowing it.
