And I like #movies quite a bit.
I want to be optimistic this decade that things will finally get better, but the Neocon establishment getting their long sought after war with Iran (again) and the Neolibs cheering them on is making me lose hope. Thousands of people are going to be murdered because it will boost Lockheed and Raytheon’s stock market value. This is nothing short of a ritualistic human sacrifice.
I want this horrible slaughter to not happen but I don’t know how to stop the war pigs
I got a medium account now. Here it is! https://medium.com/@laed0s0deal
Striking Workers Are Bringing Back 1970s "Mindfuck" Tactics
"Deliveroo and UberEats riders, [...] are masters of the mindfuck. Because they’re technically self-employed, the laws on strike action and trade unions don’t apply to them. That means that the slow bureaucracy of postal ballots and turnout thresholds designed to prevent workers from taking collective action goes out the window. Instead, these workers can just do what makes sense to them. The result has been an explosion in militancy, as the platforms try to cut their workers’ already-low wages. Strikes are now breaking out every couple of weeks with little or no prior notice. They’re organised through complex networks of encrypted messenger chats which are completely invisible to platform bosses, meaning that all their standard management techniques need to be rewritten."
Before the coup in Bolivia, Evo Morales declared he had audio recordings stating that the opposition had decided not to acknowledge his election if he won the majority vote. He knew a coup was going to take place.
He then won the election, and the coup occurred. The opposition in the coup was funded by the US, and Jeanine Añez, whose party won only 4% of the votes, is a far-right Christian fundamentalist.
Because the world's largest reserves of Lithium are in Bolivia, it's pretty clear that the US is working to gain a monopoly on the main component of electric vehicle batteries, at the same time as it stamps out a left wing government that nationalised various industries, killing two birds with one coup.
If you have apps you're not working on any more, consider contributing them to #ZincCoop.
We place them in the public domain, update them as time permits, and make sure contributions get vetted and merged.
We also plan to distribute revenue generated from the apps back to customers and contributors.
Elon Musk is damaging the night sky. His satellites interfere with astronomers’ observations of stars and potentially harmful near-Earth asteroids, leaving streaks on images. No regulations require him to fix the problem. Soon it may be unfixable. https://www.forbes.com/sites/startswithabang/2019/11/20/this-is-how-elon-musk-can-fix-the-damage-his-starlink-satellites-are-causing-to-astronomy/#56c8737d4ccc
This is a really great thread that explains the Right Wing/CIA backed Coup currently taking place in Bolivia.
Get ready for stream of conscious political thoughts.
The main thing though is that: in the US, major changes will likely only come through long strike waves. And to have long-lasting strikes you need to provide for people.
To get to a point where a significant plurality of people can strike, we have to have a lot more groundwork and community building.
You need to be able to provide for large numbers of people essentially quitting work. That's a lot of mouths to feed and people to house.
Unions help with this too, but again we need that sustainable and well-developed community work.
Protests are good, but what comes after to make sure XYZ can't happen again is a necessity.
The owner/operator of the food truck where I get sandwiches sometimes (he's prolly in mid- or early-Gen-X) said to me today, "I really like your shoes, man. More men should wear pink."
I said, "I agree. Pink and purple are underrated colors."
He said, "I think people are often too homophobic about it. Like… don't be shy about your feminine side. It's good!"
All I could say was, "Hard agree." It was a good take, IMO.
libertarian socialism 101
🌹Socialism advocates for the workers to control of the means of production
Communism advocates for a stateless, classless, moneyless society in which resources are distributed from each according to their ability to each according to their need
⭐ Libertarianism advocates for the use of non-state and anti-authoritarian means as a way of bringing about a socialist or communist society.
Anarchism advocates for the identification and abolition of hierarchies, and their replacement with horizontally organized structures from the bottom-up
Libertarian Socialism advocates for the workers themselves to take direct control over the means of production, without using a state, political party or by appealing to authority
🍞 Libertarian Communism advocates for direct implementation of a stateless, classless, moneyless society, where resources are distributed based on individual need, without use of a state or authortarian means
The BBC's "Climate Change: The Facts" documentary is an emotive message to the public about global heating, environmental destruction and climate crises, and serves as a good introduction to why people across the world must take action if we want to survive.
And I like #movies quite a bit.
A mastodon instance for anarchists and libertarian socialists.
