A shocking amount of tech is repackaging things we've done before with new names and pretending its innovation.

Tech is obsessed with accelerating change and being at the leading edge of that to the point that it can't acknowledge when the only thing changed was the paint job. Change is omnipresent and no one holds a monopoly on it. But that's not how the industry is sold to new workers...

I enjoy the Nintendo definition of innovation, which is taking aging technology and finding ways to extend their lifetime, salvaging it from obsolescence.
