I compiled a google drive of anti-racism/whiteness readings for my writing course students

cause the best way to teach people to read and think critically is to confront their own shit

A lot of it is from the book We Have Not Been Moved: Resisting Racism and Militarism in 21st Century America by PM Press

I also regularly give my white students PDF copies of Towards Collective Liberation by Chris Crass as a model for what anti-racist white organizers and social change makers can look like

Crass is an anarchist UU preacher whose perspective on whiteness and liberation trumps a lot of trash out there

I made this google drive folder for a friend who facilitates radical online reading groups for black folks

its a collection of ebooks related to black liberation from my Verso, Haymarket, PM Press, and Seven Stories Press digital libraries

there are a lot of black people working hard to make information available to other black and brown people who, by virtue of the way racial capitalism works, don't have access to certain things

reading is essential

shifting the geography of reason as you read is equally important

understand that white people are not the default audience for how black and brown radicals write things

so a lot of things are not going to be "how to be a good white person" style material

you're going to have to abstract, draw conclusions, connect the dots- without expecting textual mammies to hold your hand from start to finish and explicitly tell you what to do

and if you can't do that....

you're fucked in more ways than one 🤷‍♀️

@blkstarseed hey I get what you mean but the way this is written is pretty ableist...

Let me rephrase

if you require the constant labor of PoCs when reading their material to arrive at any semblance of a desire to dismantle whiteness.

then do not be surprised when PoCs don't take you seriously in your claims to care about liberation from whiteness and white supremacy

does that work for you?

@funnypanja i'm so glad i could take the time to rephrase it to your liking.......

@blkstarseed when I'm in the mood for "radical" books for white people I just read Mein kampf

@blkstarseed This whole thread is excellent stuff!!! Thanks for putting it together!

@federicomena you're welcome! probably gonna pin it so people can easily access it from here on out

@blkstarseed I would share your post if it would not link to Google Drive. Google already collects too much data about everybody. I do not want them to get more data about what activists are reading.
